2-Way Formations

Fly with another person while maintaining control and visual awareness, then build predetermined two-way formations with deliberate approaches and stops.

Prerequisite: Super Positioning.

Key points:

  • Begin with one flyer holding position while the other moves, then switch roles.
  • Maintain visual contact and make small, controlled movements before adding more complex transitions.
  • Stop in a neutral body position before beginning the next movement.
  • Build formations on level and arrive in the correct relative position before taking grips.

Coaching and safety: Use a coach, instructor, or competent Level 1 flyer as the second participant. Brief the formation, individual slots, entrance, recovery, and separation plan before flying.
